Restart Mk1 Astra GTE 01 April 2006
MOT expired 23/03/2001, after 6 years dry storage I thought it was time ~ Yes I know it was April Fool's Day.

Removed Plugs put oil/wd40 in bores 24 hrs before, Pump up Tyres 3 good, rear near side very low, Topped up Cooling system.
New Batteries for car and key fob alarm. Manually Turn Engine checking free.
01/04/06 Disconnect Coil Turn over - Starter Motor Bushes sticky, but with jumpleads - ignition.
1.8E Engine run to get hot - very small leak in radiator seam, seized brakes.
09/04/06 NS side light earth connection cleaned, Headlamp Washer pump electric connectors cleaned both work.
11/04/06 Blowing exhaust - New standard Exhaust fitted. General clean with wire brush and lubricated with Oil/WD40.
13/04/06 Petrol leak on Fuel Pipe replaced both pipes with New 8mm Copper Fuel Pipes and clips (arm burnt).
16/04/06 Welding req (see 20/04/06) - made 2” wide hole around Drain plug under Drivers Seat (nr petrol pipes).
17/04/06 Glove box light blown ~ replaced, Clean Discs/Calipers, wishbones etc Underseal everything. Steering Column cover fitted properly, also rear washer pump not working.
18/04/06 Windscreen Washer Pump replaced £11.99 BAS. Fuel gauge cleaned the earth on fuel tank started to work.
20/04/06 Welding with Steve Sharpe Station Garage, Meldreth 01763 264100 £82.00.
21/04/06 Undersealed welding in floorpan, refit trim, Treated Engine Bay - Prime/Paint.
27/04/06 Front NS Calliper sticking WD40/Mallet New £41.34 Exchange fitted.
30/04/06 Sharp Radio/casette removed and Philips R/C installed, Speakers & Power to Amp reconnected.
02/05/06 Manifold/Downpipe blowing, Manifold & Downpipe Gasket purchased. KR says replacement studs.
06/05/06 Manifold Off 1 Stud snapped off. Buffed up. Took Photo New Caliper, Manifold Off.
15/06/06 Manifold still off, Charged battery
26/06/06 Manifold on, 3 bolts only in the downpipe, Won't start, No fuel, New Fuel Inj relay switch £25.00 flat battery.
27/06/06 Charged battery cleaned & tighten the earth wires in boot, near the o/s rear light.
28/06/06 Treated rust on Battery Holder - Prime/Paint.
02/07/06 Radiator Leak - removed, Ne Rad Ordered £65.00, New Hose Expansion Bottle 2 Rad.
07/07/06 Wrong Radiator Delivered see 26/07/06.
09/07/06 Billing Aquadrome VBOA - Vauxhall Bedford Opel Association. Spares ~ Plastic Front Vents, Seat belt anchors (PRESS was faided), SS Disc splash shields, trim buttons x10, Plastic Chrome Door catch trims (1 replaced 1 for spare), Passenger footwell booklet pocket trim, seat back release buttons, OSF indicator lens, bulb & bulb holder (doh needed NSF) All £50.00 David Abraham 07802 899329.
17/07/06 Wheel trims painted, AirFilter removed anti-vibration bolt snapped, Hammerite internal Front engine bay Valance, under Airbox.
26/07/06 Rad Ordered Motormania £65.49, 28/07/06 KR Fitted and ran for 5 minutes - anti-vibration bolt Murketts £6.00!
31/07/06 Failed MOT £40 on CV Gaiter/Bellow, rear Brake flexi hoses, Horn DNW loose wire, rear brakes insufficient replacement cylinders.
01/07/06 Rear Brake flexi hoses/cylinders/clips, Horn lead attached..., CV Gaiter/Bellow fitted.
03/07/06 MOT Passed £25, Insured FC £205.00
04/07/06 Tax £175.00 F/Disc Dust covers wrong ones.
22/08/06 Complete 2nd hand GTE Heyco Toolkit arrived from Kilmarnock with rubber retaining strap £40.00.
06/09/06 Fuel Filter Purchased £14.95 put with Cambelt & Fanbelt, Exhaust still noisy against bodywork.
08/09/06 Complete Brand New! Astra GTE Toolkit arrived from Heyco, Germany.
10/09/06 New Cambelt & Fan £17, Fuel Filter, rust in Filter, need DS Pads and Tyres 195/60 R14 85H (AWOK).
27/09/06 Garaged for the winter.
19/02/07 Won't Start, woggled every thing, checked fuses, earths...
02/03/07 New Fuel Relay Control Switch fitted.
16/03/07 Old Toolkit refitted.

New Calliper £40 exchange, later a new CV cover was fitted for MOT.



Manifold off ~ 1 stud snapped far right, drilled and retapped.



Twin headlamp Irmscher Grill removed for access to Manifold lying on the floor.

Note Tax 1997 & low profile bonnet ~ or dent as some would say above catch.



Interior had new seat belt anchors ~ orange had faided £10.00, new radio casette, note bonnet release catch.

Waiting for a new Radiator (£65.00 the right one) and the electric fan to go in.
